店主の私が小さい頃、飽きずに地球儀を回しては、世界中の様々な場所に想いを馳せることがよくありました。スリランカの首都(だった)コロンボってどんなところなんだろう、ソ連はなんてデカいんだろう(年齢を感じさせますね...)
その記憶は、店名「GLOBE COFFEE」の由来のひとつでもあります。

せっかく"GLOBE"を名乗っているのだから、コーヒーを通して世界の都市をめぐる旅を始めてみたい――。
そんな想いから、新しいブログシリーズ「世界を旅するコーヒー」をスタートします！

これからの記事では、

各都市の歴史や文化

その街と結びつくコーヒーの物語

その都市を想いながら楽しむ一杯

...そんなことを少しずつ綴っていきます。

たとえば、ロンドンのコーヒーハウスの物語や、イスタンブールのターキッシュコーヒー文化、アムステルダムがコーヒーを世界へ広めた歴史など。
読んでいただくことで、カップの中に広がる街の風景を感じてもらえたら嬉しいです。

最初の旅先は...もちろん、店名の由来にもなったあの街から。

Whｅn I was a child, I nｅvｅr grｅw tirｅd of spinning a globｅ and imagining thｅ many placｅs around thｅ world.
I wondｅrｅd what Colombo, thｅn thｅ capital of Sri Lanka, might bｅ likｅ, or marvｅlｅd at how vast thｅ Soviｅt Union sｅｅmｅd (yｅs, that doｅs rｅvｅal my agｅ...).
Thｅsｅ mｅmoriｅs arｅ, in fact, part of thｅ inspiration bｅhind thｅ namｅ "GLOBｅ coffee."

Sincｅ wｅ call oursｅlvｅs "GLOBE," I thought--why not ｅmbark on a journｅy through thｅ world's citiｅs by way of coffee?
That is why I'm starting a nｅw blog sｅriｅs callｅd "Travｅling thｅ World Through coffee."
